What is the Historical Significance of the Temple?
In ancient times, Swarnagiri, also known as Kanakachal, was home to numerous affluent Jain families. During the 2nd century of the Vikram era, under King Nahad’s reign, a Jain temple named “Yakshavasati” was constructed, with the idol installed by Acharya Pradyotansuriji. In V.S. 1221, Maharaja Kumarpal built another temple, where Acharya Shri Vadidevsuriji installed an idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath, which became known as Kumkumroal Parshwanath. This temple, surrounded by 52 smaller shrines, was a significant center for Jain worship. Over the centuries, the temple underwent several renovations, notably by Minister Jaymalji in V.S. 1681 and later under the guidance of Vijayrajendrasuriji. Despite periods of destruction during various invasions, the temple’s resilience stands as a testament to its historical and spiritual importance.

- By Rail: The nearest railway station is Jalore, approximately 3 kilometers from the base of Swarnagiri Hill.
- By Road: Jalore is well-connected by road, with bus services and private vehicles available.
- Ascent to the Temple: The fort housing the temple is about 2.5 kilometers from the foot of the hill. For those unable to make the climb, swinging cots (dolis) are available to assist in the ascent.
Facilities such as Dharamshala (guesthouse) and Bhojanshala (dining hall) are available both on the hill and in Jalore city, ensuring a comfortable stay for pilgrims.

The fort spans approximately 2.5 kilometers in length and 1.5 kilometers in breadth, reflecting the grandeur of its historical past. Despite periods of destruction, many ancient artistic remains and beautiful idols are present, showcasing intricate craftsmanship.
- Surrounding Temples: Within the fort, there are four temples, including the Chaumukhji temple and the Parshwanath temple, believed to be ancient and referred to as the Astapad temple and the Kumar Vihar temple. At the foot of the hill in Jalore city, there are twelve temples, each contributing to the region’s rich Jain heritage.
